Greed as THE motivator

Is greed really the best thing to teach to a child?

Do we really need to dig very deep when analyzing and pinning the blame for the behaviors of our planet? We have made it so currency is absolutely necessary for survival, and the more currency you have, the more assurances of survival you receive. Therefore, we can’t get enough of that root of all evil. Greed has become the natural environment of our upbringing. This is what you and every parent teaches children. So after 50,000 years of Human development, we have never learned to cooperate and share, simply because it has never been taught, globally. So what happens if you don’t share a planet’s resources when 6.5 billion people depend on it for survival? War, crime, corruption and prisons…and that’s just for starters. Is this worth teaching greed for?

I consider myself to be a 21st Century Human. Why was I created? My purpose in life is obvious, to live in the present, to help others as best I can, and to contribute my talents to our civilization's benefit. It is why I am here. And what I love most about living in the present is that it changes the future.

I know that this ancient planet has been here long before the Human race. Humans are her current dominant species, every single one of us, fortunate to be alive and living off her resources. To think on the circumstances that had transpired for us to exist as we do today is just mind-boggling; and we still are changing, evolving. In another 50,000 years the Human race will look, act, and live nothing like it does today. And right now, the Human mind and body is amazing. Each of us is capable of anything and maximized through education, practice, and technology. Most of us have something to contribute to our race to further its progress, comfort, or entertainment and only need an avenue in which to share it. We must realize all of this and more when we think about how we should be collectively acting while trapped on this planet together.

In time, we adapt to new information and wonder how we could have ever assumed we were correct before. The Earth is not the center of the Universe. One does not need to worship the Sun in order for it rise. Slavery is wrong. Women should have the same rights as men. All humans are equal. And in all this time, we never learned to globally cooperate and share. Boy, we still act like the cavemen and have a lot to learn.

In our development, cavemen applied a survival of the fittest mentality. And that’s where it has remained up until today. So why not make the evolutionary change in the 21st century and teach humanity unity and shared prosperity for all instead? Isn’t most of our greed stemming first from that basic need for survival? If we made it humanities responsibility to take care of each and every being on this planet, an evolution would occur. For the first time the cavemen beasts would be allowed to become matured civilians of the planet Earth.

What if we did provide prosperity to all and openly shared resources, education and technology to every single being on the planet? What would this world be like? First and most importantly, we would not be teaching children greed, because it wouldn’t be necessary. If everything is shared, everything is free. Actually, I can’t imagine what 6.5 billion highly educated and practiced Human beings working together, organizing, planning, and sharing could create or consume when their sole purpose and motivation is achievement and their only limitation is safety and imagination. I would love to find out. I’m guessing with a little time, space travel and futuristic cities depicted on sci-fi movies with flying cars.

It is always the older generations that fight hardest for the greed to continue. The youngest generation have the hardest task of implementing the change. The future generations would accept the new lessons without question.

This Earth, our lifeboat, is our home. She cannot be cut up and portioned for sale. We all belong to her. She belongs to all of us. We all are her global work force. We have evolved brains and are the dominant species because we have the power to reason. What mind with reason would intentionally separate her peoples from her resources? We all got here the same way. We all require the same necessities for survival. Our evolution has provided us with great tools and sciences, why are we not already sharing the planet and all of her resources for our species continual survival, comfort, and progression?

So I ask again, is greed really the best thing to teach to a child?
